The work totes I prefer have dedicated padded sleeves or compartments to protect your electronic devices. Bonus points if they can fit 2 laptops comfortably!

Work Tote Requirements

What are we looking for in the perfect tote? Short answer: A lot. Specific answer:

Pockets – We need as many pockets as possible in all sizes. I usually look for pockets to store my laptop (and large electronics), pockets for smaller items like headphones and pens, and pockets for easy access to store things like credit cards.

Thick Straps – My tote gets heavy. I store a laptop, an iPad, multiple books, notebooks AND MORE. Given all my supplies, strong straps are necessities. I need to feel my bag is capable of holding everything I throw in there!

Not Hideous Design – Style matters, always. Since I use my tote nearly every day, it’s important for me to be happy when I look at it. For that to happen, it needs to be a stylish, interesting design. (Sorry, Madewell.)
