Please note we use “ethically made” to describe companies that have safe working conditions, pay their workers fairly, use responsibly-sourced materials and take steps to offset their environmental impact.

Each listing includes a description as written by a Style Files team member. You may see some descriptions of “fast fashion” – this descriptor is reserved for brands that show characteristics of fast fashion based on our research.
Brands are described as “fast fashion” when they meet the majority of these criteria:
- Insufficient or no information on workers’ protections
- Insufficient or no information on sustainable practices
- Insufficient or no information on ethical manufacturing standards
- Cheap imitations of other designers’ products (short wearing expectancy due to low quality materials)
- Large product range, excessive sales and intense pressure to buy (e.g. 50% off until midnight)
Unfortunately, fast fashion is difficult to avoid in today’s landscape. While some fast fashion brands are listed here, the intent is to eventually remove them completely. We are committed to highlighting brands that value people and the environment as much as their products.
