What is a Travel Jewelry Case?

A travel jewelry case or jewelry organizer is used to manage your jewelry effectively. Its purpose is to keep your rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces, waist beads, and every other delicate piece secure and separated from the rest of your closet.

Jewelry storage is essential whether you’re on a trip or organizing your closet. A lot of jewelry is small and without a designated place, can be lost easily.

For whatever reason I don’t prioritize jewelry organization. TO MY OWN DETRIMENT. I’m always losing necklaces and misplacing an earring. I recently invested in a small jewelry tree since I got tired of my slapdash jewelry organization, and it was the best choice for me.

Now that I travel much more frequently a travel jewelry case is top of mind. I need something that keeps my jewelry safe from damage during transit and is organized in such a way that I can find what I need easily. There are a few different options for types of jewelry cases I can look into.

    Types of Jewelry Cases

What kind of jewelry case you need depends on your needs. Remember, whichever jewelry storage option you choose, make sure it suits you in terms of size, organization, and protection. It’s also helpful to regularly declutter and reorganize your jewelry to ensure that everything has its designated place and to prevent any loss or damage.

    1. Jewelry Boxes: These are the traditional and most common storage option for jewelry. They come in various sizes, designs, and materials. Jewelry boxes usually have multiple compartments and are lined with velvet or satin to keep your jewelry safe and prevent scratches. Some boxes also have ring rolls, necklace hooks, and earring holders.

    2. Jewelry Trays: Jewelry trays are shallow, rectangular trays with different sections or compartments to organize your jewelry. They are usually made of wood, acrylic, or fabric. With multiple compartments, you can easily separate and store different types of jewelry, such as rings, earrings, bracelets, and necklaces.
    3. Hanging Jewelry Organizers: If you have limited space, a hanging jewelry organizer can be a great option. These organizers usually have pockets, loops, or hooks to store your jewelry. They can be hung on a closet rod, a wall hook, or the back of a door, making them a convenient and space-saving storage solution.

    4. Jewelry Stands and Trees: Jewelry stands or trees are decorative storage solutions that also act as displays. They often have elevated branches, hooks, or trays to hold necklaces, bracelets, rings, and earrings. These stands not only keep your jewelry organized but also make them easily accessible and add a decorative touch to your room.

Sidebar: How to Ensure your Necklaces don’t Tangle during Travel

My number one pet peeve for jewelry when I travel is necklaces tangling. Especially for layered necklaces that can get so tangled that you can’t de-tangle them without a safety pin, a lot of patience and at least an hour of free time.

To ensure your necklaces don’t tangle, I suggest these tips:

    The Straw Method

Grab a straw. Thread your necklace through one end of the straw and pull it out from the other end.

    The Plastic Wrap Method

Grab a plastic wrap portion that is as long as your necklace. Lay the plastic wrap down on a surface then lay your necklace on top of the plastic wrap. Fold over the plastic wrap so the necklace is contained.

    The Bag Method

Grab a small bag (preferably something made of reusable material like cotton). Put each necklace in its own small bag with the clasp hanging out of the bag to ensure there is no tangling during motion.
