    What is Poster Girl?

Poster Girl is the London-founded brand of every It Girl’s dreams. The brand was created by Francesa Capper and Natasha Somerville. The pair met while studying women’s fashion design at Central Saint Martins in London.

If that school sounds familiar, it should. It’s one the world’s most renowned design universities. In fact, we’ve featured a few of the school’s students who currently run lauded fashion brands – Han Chong of Self-Portrait and Sohee Park of Miss Sohee.

Back to Poster Girl – Capper and Somerville decided to start their brand after they put in many hours at other iconic fashion houses. Namely Christian Dior, Vivienne Westwood, John Galliano, Bvlgari, Alexander Wang and Jeremy Scott.

Capper and Somerville were getting ready before a night out when they had a “lightbulb moment” – why don’t they create a brand together? Thus Poster Girl was born. Inspired equally by ”ultra femininity… a direct nostalgia to [their] upbringings” and women’s shapewear, the pair created a brand adored worldwide.

    The History of Poster Girl

Poster Girl was founded in 2017. That was surprising to learn since the brand is prolific among highly publicized groups. In simpler terms, a lot of celebrities have worn Poster Girl since its conception. Its meteoric popularity makes it seem like a much older brand than it is.

Unlike a lot of other fashion houses that take years to be in the public eye, Poster Girl’s rise happened almost instantly. A huge help came from Kylie Jenner’s stylist. They requested a custom Poster Girl outfit for Jenner and the brand delivered – 3 times.

Jenner wore 3 Poster Girl outfits in a row. One of which became one of the brand’s most requested dresses – the Jessica.

A Poster Girl dress is defined by a few things: a statement pattern, a sexy silhouette and “luxurious construction”. With those in mind, the Jessica dress serves as the perfect case study. It’s revealing, printed and memorable.

Pieces like the Jessica perfectly encapsulate Poster Girl. They’re the pieces you could imagine the It Girls of every decade wearing. From 90s rom-coms to Instagram celebrities.

It makes sense that the brand was born before a night out for the founders. Every one of their pieces is made for a celebration!
