    What is Loud Bodies?

Loud Bodies is a sustainable, ethically made clothing brand founded by Patricia Luiza Blaj. She wanted to “prove that style has no size and to make ethically produced sustainable clothing” for everyone.

Blaj lives up to her mission in every piece of clothing offered on LB’s site.

    How is Loud Bodies Sustainable?

In the words of William Shakespeare, ”Let me count the ways.” They use recycled paper packaging instead of plastic. Every fabric they use is OEKO-TEX 100 certified sustainable.

They repurpose all fabric scraps into other items. They pay extra so each of their packages’ carbon emissions are offset by their shipping provider (DHL).

Loud Bodies is serious about sustainability and ethics. When I first discovered the brand, I was impressed by their Sustainability page in particular.

It’s clear a lot of care and detail went into that page. That care makes me want to support them. Since pages like those are hard to find among fashion companies.

Still, I had questions about their ethical practices as well. In my opinion, a brand is only truly sustainable when they treat their workers fairly as well.

After all, a brand can’t survive without its workers!

I reached out to Loud Bodies via their website’s contact form. Frankly, I was expecting a response in a week or two. To my surprise, the founder Patricia answered me in a matter of days (I contacted them on a Friday and she got back to me that following Monday.)

I was impressed by her thoughtful, thorough answer to my inquiry about Loud Bodies’ factory standards. And her response solidified my admiration for the brand.

    How is Loud Bodies Ethical?

Loud Bodies is based in Romania and run by a team of 6 people – including the founder Patricia.

They employ 3 garment professionals, a designer and Patricia’s assistant. All 6 team members work in the same space. It’s part manufacturing site and part office.

It’s manufacturing portion is not like the giant, unsafe factories we’re used to hearing about in today’s fashion climate. At Loud Bodies, garments are made steps from their office space.

The entire area is well-ventilated, there’s a kitchen space and newly renovated bathrooms.

What really distinguishes Loud Bodies is their pay structure for garment workers. The industry standard is to pay garment workers depending on the amount of pieces they construct.

As you can imagine, this adds a lot of pressure on workers to work harder and faster. That is not the case at Loud Bodies.

Every garment worker is paid by hour irrespective of how many garments they produce per hour. And their pay is well above the Romanian livable wage.

This pay structure takes the strain off workers, ensures high quality standards in garments produced and builds trust in the brand from employees plus customers.

Loud Bodies has the kind of working environment every garment worker deserves. But, unfortunately often doesn’t get.

They set the example for what we should expect from clothing companies. In livable wages, in factory conditions, and in transparency.

    Let’s Talk About the Clothes

Now we know why we should support Loud Bodies from a moral standpoint. Thankfully, their gorgeous clothes back up their ethics!

To me what makes the brand so great is its vibrance. You so often see size-inclusive brands that have basic coloring and designs; not Loud Bodies!

They offer bold, striking colors and unique patterns in all sizes. Their clothes set a new standard for what should be expected of size-inclusive fashion.

It’s no wonder they’ve been featured in every fashion magazine and outlet you can think of: Elle, Refinery29, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, and more!

I love this combo of the purple long sleeve, high-neck top with red tweed skirt.

It’s elegant and charming. It makes the wearer look like a doll!

    Final Word

With beautiful clothes like these and ethics to match, I’m proud to support Loud Bodies.

I want to hear your thoughts on the brand everyone’s talking about. Are you a fan of their styles?
