I Love Statement Pants
I’m in the process of honing in on my personal style. So far, I cleaned out my closet, built a color palette, and compiled images reflective of my style on a mood board. Now, I just need to reflect.
You know, take a look at the images on my mood board and find patterns. Initially, I thought this would be a hard exercise until I took more than a passing glance.
Virtually every image on my board had a pair of statement pants.
I always knew peripherally I enjoyed a good pair of pants. But, seeing it so obviously on my mood board was surprising. I mean I curated more than 20 photos and only a couple didn’t feature some bold bottoms!
Admittedly, I have a problem. Whether the occasion be formal, casual or somewhere in between, I deem statement pants appropriate.
Give me the high waisted patent leather joggers! I’ll make use of red satin cigarette trousers!
I just love a bold pant!
That being said, I’m leaning into my obsession. Rather than shaming myself for my lack of creativity, I’m going to celebrate my love of statement pants. Trust, there will be many pairs in my soon-to-be revised wardrobe.
What are Statement Pants?
The category ”statement pants” is as broad as the 2 words that create it. “Statement” meaning bold. ”Pants” meaning anything with defined legs.
Statement pants are exactly as subjective as you assume they are. Really, anything can be considered formal or casual based on any person’s experience with either category.
For the purposes of clarity, I define statement pants as anything other than casual jeans. If you can wear the pants comfortably to do menial labor, you’re not wearing statement pants.
Let’s keep it at that to avoid further confusion. (I’m already picturing high-waisted, heavily embellished jeans created to contradict me…)
