How I Decorate my Home
Home decor shopping isn’t easy. It’s a lot of pressure to decorate your space in a way that feels comfortable, homey and personal. The last time I moved, I started from scratch.
I sold everything I owned before moving and decided I needed fresh decor for my new space. The problem was finding the right decor!
See, I divide my design process by room no matter the size of the space. I apply the same amount of detail to outfitting a one bedroom apartment as I do a 3-bedroom home (both of which I’ve helped furnish).
This attention to detail requires I stay organized, especially with the sites I visit for furniture. Note: Site not stores.
Sidebar: The days of visiting furniture stores and expecting next-day delivery have passed. The last time I went furniture shopping I was told anything on the floor would take about 6 months to deliver to me. 6 months! Shipping delays are currently a worldwide issue. So now more than ever, the timing for deliveries is prioritized above many other factors.
Back to the furniture hunt: I’ll admit I’m a little particular. I only have very specific items I like and I can rarely be swayed. When there’s a piece of furniture I’m not sure about, it takes me a very long time to find the perfect one.
I’m one of those annoying people that must see ALL the options before I decide on THE one. I even compiled a list of home furniture websites so I could be as thorough as possible during my search – I’m that meticulous.
