In a Jeans Slump? Try these Styles Instead!

I confess I’m a boring jeans buyer. I buy the same style every time. If I buy them in person, I just can’t be bothered with first finding the jeans then trying them on then being disappointed.

So it’s high-rise or bust for me. Every time. Every where.

I’ve decided as of right now, that will no longer be the case.

Women’s jeans don’t have to be boring. There are so many washes, cuts and styles to choose from! I realize now restricting myself to the same dark wash high-rise jean every time I go shopping is truly a shame. We have so many other flattering and frankly, more interesting options. And I’m here to share!

    Straight Leg Jeans

Straight legs are here to replace your boring pair of high-rise skinny jeans! I enjoy straight legs because they’re much more relaxed than skinny jeans and leggings.

The breathability below the knees makes for a universally flattering look while also giving a cool, vintage vibe. (See these AG Jeans)

I’m also excited to play around with colors and waist heights on straight leg jeans like Nanushka does here. I’m noticing a lot more black and white color block happening specifically with women’s pants.

I personally am loving it! It’s such a cool, versatile trend for fall or winter.

    Wide Leg Jeans

I’m a very big fan of a very wide leg women’s jean. The wide leg has a throwback appeal and paired with the hue of this WeWoreWhat pair makes for the perfect new denim!

These jeans happen to be high waisted as well which is great for short women like me; Not only are you getting a lot of room for your legs (especially those thighs), the high waist gives your legs the illusion of greater length!

As we know, throwbacks are making a comeback. The upward trending popularity of wide leg jeans prove that point. With jeans like these Zimmermanns it’s no wonder!

    Tapered Leg Jeans

Not to be underestimated: the tapered jean. Initially I had a lot of trouble differentiating between women’s tapered jeans and straight jeans. When they’re worn it’s often hard to tell the difference. However the difference is clear when laid flat.

As you can see, a tapered jean is widest at the thighs and *tapers* at the ankle. This makes for interesting, mirrored proportions on your legs and an overall flattering look.

I almost prefer tapered jeans to straight simply because tapered automatically suggests a more roomy pant than straight does. These Stella McCartney jeans specifically make me want to buy a pair asap.

    Final Word

Your denim doesn’t have to be boring! With the rise in popularity of looser styles, the silhouette possibilities are truly endless.

Maybe it’s time to ditch those every day skinny jeans for something more trendy. Some straight, wide-leg or tapered jeans just be your next step. They’re definitely mine!
