Why are Quotes Important?
I have a lifelong love of quotes. When I was a young buck, I used to write them on notecards and paste them to my bedroom wall. Now, they live on my phone and I refer to them constantly.
I love quotes because I have a deep admiration for clever wordplay. One of the few activities we have control over in our lives is the agency to choose our words. The choices you make with words indicate who you are and what you value.
It’s the same reason why I enjoy books from a particular author. How they express their ideas resonates with me.
See, quotes are important because they’re easily accessible pieces of wisdom. With only a few sentences they have the power to change your perspective, offer a new insight, prompt consideration and inspire.
The best part is, the best quotes don’t require context. They’re so expertly crafted that they can be applied to virtually every scenario and still offer wisdom.
I have a chaotic list of unorganized quotes that spans a lot of subjects. One area of interest that seemed especially apt was style and fashion. We need more style quotes to guide us as we pursue our personal styles.
I gathered the below quotes from my collection for you as morsels of style wisdom. I hope you find them as compelling and thought-provoking as I did. If you have a favorite from this list or otherwise, please share it in the comments!
